In Marvel Comics, Ms Marvel returns as Muslim teen
Marvel Comics is bringing Ms. Marvel back as a 16-year-old daughter of Pakistani immigrants living in Jersey City named Kamala Khan.
The character among the first to be a series protagonist who is both female and Muslim is part of Marvel Entertainment's efforts to reflect a growing diversity among its readers while keeping a hold of the contemporary relevance that have underlined its foundation since the creation of Spider-Man and the X-Men in the early 1960s.
Writer G. Willow Wilson and artist Adrian Alphona, working with editor Sana Amanat, say the series reflects Khan's vibrant but kinetic world, learning to deal with superpowers, family expectations and adolescence.
Amanat calls the series a "desire to explore the Muslim-American diaspora from an authentic perspective" and what it means to be young and lost amid expectations by others while also telling the story of a teenager coming to grips with having amazing powers.
"I wanted Ms. Marvel to be true-to-life, something real people could relate to, particularly young women. High school was a very vivid time in my life, so I drew heavily on those experiences impending adulthood, dealing with school, emotionally charged friendships that are such a huge part of being a teenager," said Wilson, a convert to Islam whose previous comics work includes the graphic novel "Cairo" and series "Air" from Vertigo.
"It's for all the geek girls out there and everybody else who's ever looked at life from the fringe."
This Ms. Marvel can grow and shrink her limbs and her body and, Wilson said, ultimately, she'll be able to shape shift into other forms.
The idea came after a discussion with senior editor Stephen Wacker as he and Amanat, a Muslim-American, compared stories about growing up.
From there it germinated into a "character for all those little girls who are growing up now the way you are growing up," she recalled. Wilson was brought on board to write the series and the team quickly got approval from Marvel's creative committee to move forward.
DC Comics last fall relaunched its "Green Lantern" series with Simon Baz, an Arab American and Muslim. The character reflects writer Geoff Johns' Lebanese ancestry and his upbringing in the Detroit area.
There have been a few others: Marvel Comics has Dust, a young Afghan woman whose mutant ability to manipulate sand and dust has been part of the popular X-Men books. DC Comics in late 2010 introduced Nightrunner, a young Muslim hero of Algerian descent reared in Paris.
The creative team said that Khan's backstory, growing up Muslim, is an element of the story, but not the critical foundation, either.
"Kamala is not unlike Peter Parker," said Marvel Editor-In-Chief Axel Alonso of the teenager turned wall crawler. "She's a 16-year-old girl from the suburbs who is trying to figure out who she is and trying to forge an identity when she suddenly bestows great power and learns the great responsibility that comes with it."
Salman Khan to clash with Aamir Khan?

Salman Khan and Aamir Khan
December will see close friends Salman and Aamir battle at the box-office as both their films are releasing that month. Aamir's 'Dhoom 3', which is releasing on December 20, will lock horns with Salman's 'Jai Ho', which will hit the theatres on New Year's Eve.
A Mid-Day report suggests that initially Salman wanted to release his film in January and give a clear run to Dhoom 3 at the box-office. He was trying his best to avert a clash with his friend Aamir and former flame katrina. However, it seems that he has changed his mind
Sources close to Salman told Mid-Day that he could have changed his policy after his rival Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express broke box office records. In fact Salman has openly admitted on Bigg Boss about the change in release dates. He said that he wants to release the film sooner and break box-office records.
While director sohail maintains that the film will release on January 24 2014, sources close to Salman says makers are rushing things and racing against time so that film can release on December 31

Mathira Khan to Appear in Bollywood Exposing Herself Boldly
These days when success depends on the level of exposure, while taking the Showbiz life into consideration, the Third degree models who use private TV Channels with low ratings as a start up platform, soon are seen on big screens. We recently talked about Mathira Khan, a Model-turned-singer who stated her career as a host on a local TV Channel, who showed her singing skills with her debut song Jadugar. Now the news is that this brat is now all set for her debut in a Bollywood Movie.
According to the latest reveals, Mathira would soon be seen in a bollywood movie starring Neil Nitin Mukesh and helmed by debutant Prerna Wadhawan. The film story is based on a romantic comedy which would also be covering a bold touch. Mathira is in Mumbai these days and is found to be confident of bagging this role. Not only this, but she is also seeing other film directors for more work and would be staying in the city for few more days, trying all her best to grab as much as she can.
when she was asked about her expectations from the new turn, she said:
“I’m not a stranger to camera, so I’m very confident and as of now, my chances are 50/50.”
Mathira was diplpmatic while answering the rumours that she is following the footsteps of Veena Malik, who misused her country’s name to reach out her destiny, which was Bollywood Offcourse. Mathira played it safe and did not make any comments about it. Although, playing with words, she said that there is a very narrow line which separates vulgarity with being sexy and she has no plans to portray herself as a vulgar artist.
Although her last statement contradicts her realities greatly, The Pakistani audience is now all ready to criticize this newly turned actress after Veena Malik. "You cannot judge lady with her clothes" Says Mathira
The lady, who knows how to cash every possible move she can actually make in the showbiz industry, is enjoying the peak of limelight these days. Yes, we mean Mathira here. From her late night live hosting on a B-class channel to her controversial dance in the movie ‘Main Hoon Shahid Afridi’, Mathira’s career seems to be a journey with no ends. While her reputation still holds a confused state among viewers, Mathira has always proven that she is daring enough to pass big statements whenever she is questioned over a matter. It seemed no big deal for this controversy queen to call Shahid Afridi a mentally retarded man previously, and adding more stars in her debatable statement list, she has recently said that it is wrong to judge a woman from her clothes.
Defending today’s fashion in a talk show on SAMAA TV on October 18th, 2013, Mathira countered all statements of Mufti Abdul-Qavi who spoke on the fact that fashion industry in Pakistan is spreading vulgarity and indecency in the society. Mathira was blunt enough to say that it is truly inappropriate to judge a woman’s character on the basis of her clothing. She said that a woman wearing a top or jeans, or even a mini skirt can be a sober one.
Maya Khan Show – Another Vulgar Morning Show
The Maya Khan Show aired on Express TV is another depiction of going against the norms, culture, tradition and ethical values of the society and that of the religion. Shows are usually aimed to inject people with something new, informative, entertaining but useful in nature but sadly our local TV channels to get high ratings have completely lost the basic media ethics and continue to violate the essence of the morning shows.
Maya Khan had remained into limelight due to her leaked images in which she was seen wearing immodest dressess, partying with men. On the social websites, various links and posts have unrevealed of her love relationships where she can be seen dating with few of the known men of the Pakistani media industry.
Hosts like her who her loose in character can do no good to the show which they present. Few weeks back Maya Khan show carried the topic of ‘Jinnats’. A baba named Abdullah was called upon where he helps to solve the problems of people though his spiritual and religious knowledge. The show sometimes carries the vulgar elements, sometimes deviating from the basic ethics and sometimes wearing the Islamic veil.
People on Facebook page, either have strongly criticized her show terming it to be completely fake since a person on hand cannot solve the problems while others appreciate the step taken to inculcate belief of people who according to the religious preaching do exist as part of God’s creation like us.
The topics usually discussed on the show relating to the marriages, boy friend and girl friend relationships and others are not worth watching and admired by people.
It is pertinent here to mention that Maya Khan had been host at the Samaa TV channel but after she raided the parks and lively covered and interviewed the young males and females who were supposed to ‘date’ was fired from her job. People strongly opposed her show since intervening in other affairs is no one’s right. After it came series of ‘hidden ‘truths about the smart host.

India is like home to me: Adnan Sami
Singer Adnan Sami came back into the limelight a week ago, but for all the wrong reasons. The 44-year-old Britain-born Sami was issued a notice to leave India immediately after his visa expired. The film wing of the extremist Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Chitrapat Karmachari Sena (MNS) also refused to offer any help.
“We told Sami that our priority would be our artistes,” wing President Amey Khopkar told the Press Trust of India. “We have a lot of talented artistes of our own and do not need Pakistanis to come and sing here. Besides, whatever money he earns here, he probably sends to Pakistan, and that country will be using the same money against us. So, he has to leave the country.” However, it was later revealed that the union home ministry granted Sami a three-month visa extension from October 6, the same day his earlier document had expired.
Despite being of Pakistani origin, Sami has been living in India for several years and has sung a number of Bollywood hits. And even though the authorities told him off and turned their backs on him, he remains loyal to the country. “I have been living here [in India] for the last 14 years. It has been my workplace since then. I have not spent [as much] time anywhere else as I have in India,” said Sami in an interview to IANS. “So, I am attached with this country. It is like a home to me.”
The singer-composer’s last visa was valid from September 26, 2012 to October 6 this year. He applied for an extension on September 14 as per the standard procedure that he had been following for the past several years. Now that his visa has been extended, Sami is overjoyed.
Imran Abbas, not Aditya Roy Kapoor was first choice for Aashiqui 2
KARACHI: The handsome and talented young Bollywood actor Aditya Roy Kapoor has managed to earn a spot on the ladies’ must-drool over list after his back-to-back appearances in hit films Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani and Aashiqui 2. But did you know that our very own Imran Abbas – not Aditya – was the Bhatt camp’s first pick for the mega hit Aashiqui sequel?
A report published by the Business of Cinema says that the makers of Aashiqui 2 had first approached Pakistani television star Abbas for the lead character, a troubled singer named Rahul Jaykar. Abbas, best known for his performance in dramas Malaal, Vasl, Khuda Aur Mohabbat, confirmed that he was approached for the part in a telephone interview.
He explained why he declined the offer. “Ashkay Kumar had offered me a role inBoss,” said Abbas. “So I was under contract. Since Akshay is a friend, I opted to remain under contract and declined Aashiqui 2. [Boss] was delayed because of its production merits, so it was mutually decided that I should not be a part of the film.”
It is indeed surprising that an actor like Abbas, who has no big film projects to his name, would give up opportunities to star in big budget Bollywood films (seriously, how could someone NOT accept an offer to act alongside Deepika Padukone?!). “I do regret not being in Aashiqui 2,” he admits.
For naysayers who are skeptical about Abbas having received the offers, he says, “The biggest drawback with us is that the Pakistani audience always underestimates its own actors. [They think] we [actors] may be lying. It is certainly not so. Many actors give out crappy statements against the other and I seriously get upset about this.”
Abbas is currently involved with the final shooting of upcoming film Creature – billed as India’s first 3-D ‘monster movie’ – in which he stars opposite Bipasha Basu. The film is being directed by Vikram Bhatt and is expected to hit screens in February 2014.
When asked if he will do Pakistani film projects in the future, Abbas says, “My connection with Pakistan cannot finish. This will never happen.”
At the end, he added that he is in talks with B-town film-makers for some upcoming projects but that he cannot comment on them as “nothing is official yet”.

Humsafar will go On Air in Saudi Arab
Surprise!! Our very own Humsafar will now soon be making all the Pakistani proud as it is all set to make its release in Saudi Arabia. The drama starring Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Naveen Waqar, Atiqa Odho, Behroze Sabzwari and other popular celebrities is now a days been dubbed in Arabic so that it can then go on air on a Gulf Channel, under the banner of ‘MBC Bollywood’. The name of the drama is also changed to its Arabic translation ‘’رفيق الروح’ [Soulmate.
Humsafar has been a remarkable piece of entertainment in the history of Pakistani dramas and also enjoyed a huge applause by the Indian audience when it went on air on Indian drama channel Rishtay.
Let us now see how the KSA audience take this Pakistani venture.
Zinda Bhaag at Abu Dhabi Film Festival
The Naseeruddin Shah-starrer, which is credited with being the first Pakistani film to have been sent for Oscar consideration in the last 50 years, has received immense appreciation for its contribution to rekindling Pakistani cinema. The movie’s cast includes first-time actors Khurram Patras and Salman Ahmad Khan and Zohaib Asghar.
“It’s a very proud moment for us to show the film in UAE,” said Farjad Nabi, who co-director Zinda Bhaag with Meenu Gaur. The movie revolves around the qualms of three Pakistani men in their 20s, who wish to make a living anywhere but in their own country.
The comedy underlines a pertinent and serious issue of how people resort to illegal immigration means and face grave consequences thereafter. The film has been described as quirky and fun but with a message.
Zinda Bhaag was commended by a foreign viewer for being a “powerfully written and entertaining” film. The film has a great number of Indian actors. Gaur said, “It made more sense to get crew members from India as India and Pakistan have a shared culture. It was the best decision we made.”

Jackson's doctor released from jail after 2 years
Jackson's doctor released from jail after 2 years

LOS ANGELES: The doctor convicted of killing Michael Jackson was released from jail Monday after serving nearly two years of a four-year sentence for his role in the pop star's death.
Conrad Murray was released from a downtown Los Angeles jail at 12:01 a.m. local time, according to the sheriff's office. A change in California law allowed his incarceration time to be significantly cut down.
The former cardiologist was convicted in 2011 of causing Jackson's death in June 2009 by providing the superstar with an overdose of the powerful anesthetic propofol as a sleep aid. Jackson was in the midst of preparations for a series of comeback concerts and Murray was serving as his personal physician.
Murray's prospects are uncertain: At age 60 his license to practice medicine has been suspended or revoked in three states and his face and name are well known due to his association with Jackson and his highly-publicized involuntary manslaughter trial.
The former doctor is appealing his conviction, although an appeals court has questioned whether it needs to hear the case. His attorney Valerie Wass has argued that the court should not dismiss the appeal because it could alter his overall sentence and reduce some of the stigma his conviction has caused.
Despite being jailed, Murray has not been entirely silent. Audio recordings of his calls have been posted on celebrity website TMZ and the ex-doctor told the Today show that he cried tears of joy after a civil jury recently determined that the promoters of Jackson's comeback shows did not negligently hire Murray.
He did not, however, testify in the civil case or take the stand during his criminal trial.
Murray previously maintained clinics in Houston and Las Vegas and frequently complained about conditions in jail after his conviction. He was allowed to serve his entire sentence in a Los Angeles jail rather than a state prison due to a law aimed at easing overcrowding by shifting nonviolent offenders to local lockups.
‘Dr. Murray has not received any special treatment in jail and in fact has many less privileges than most inmates because of his notoriety,’ Wass said in a statement earlier this year.
She said he ``is very much looking forward to his release and getting on with his life. However, the fact of his incarceration is increasingly difficult for him.''
Jurors in a lawsuit filed by Jackson's mother against concert giant AEG Live LLC determined that the doctor was not unfit or incompetent to serve as Jackson's tour doctor earlier this month. The panel heard testimony about Jackson and Murray's relationship throughout the five-month trial, but the panel said it did not condone the physician's conduct.
``That doesn't mean we felt he was ethical,'' jury foreman Gregg Barden said of Murray after the AEG Live verdict.
No doctor or medical expert has condoned Murray's treatments of Jackson during either the ex-doctor's criminal case or the civil litigation. The former cardiologist told police he gave the superstar nightly doses of propofol to help him sleep but lacked the proper medical or monitoring equipment that's required to administer anesthesia.
Although widely used, propofol is intended only for surgical settings and experts have noted that its effects are not actually sleep.

10-year-old boy jumps to death 'on teacher's order' in Chin

CHENGDU: A 10-year-old Chinese boy jumped 30 floors to his death after failing to write a self-criticism letter demanded by his teacher, state media reported today.
The fifth-grade primary school student had been ordered to write a 1,000-character apology by his teacher for talking in class, China National Radio (CNR) reported on its website, citing a neighbour.
The educator allegedly told him to jump out of a building after he failed to complete the task, the report quoted relatives and the neighbour as saying.
"Teacher, I can't do it," was found written in one of his textbooks, CNR said. "I flinched several times when I tried to jump from the building."
The child smashed into a parked car beneath the flat where his family live, the West China City News reported. His furious relatives posted a banner outside the school in the southwestern city of Chengdu reading: "The teacher forced our kid to jump off the building," pictures showed today.
"The police investigation is still under way," an official of Jinjiang district, where the incident happened, told AFP, declining to comment further. Strict discipline is an essential part of China's education system and culture, and tradition demands deference to authority, putting children under pressure to obey instructions.
The boy's school said today on its verified account on Sina Weibo, a Chinese equivalent of Twitter, that the child and some of his classmates had been ordered to write reviews of their behaviour after they disturbed a speaking competition. He died "by accident", it said.
Harry Potter's Radcliffe to play Coe in athletics film

LONDON: Harry Potter actor Daniel Radcliffe is to play British athletics great Sebastian Coe in a film about his rivalry with fellow middle-distance runner Steve Ovett, filmmakers announced on Wednesday.
"Gold" will examine the tussles between countrymen Coe and Ovett, who exchanged titles and world records during the early 1980s.
Ovett beat Coe over 800 metres at the Moscow Olympics in 1980, but Coe claimed revenge in the 1,500m final six days later and successfully defended his title at the 1984 Los Angeles Games.
Coe went on to head the organising committee of the 2012 London Olympics and is the current chairman of the British Olympic Association.
The film is expected to focus on Coe and Ovett's preparations for the 1980 Olympics, but it has not yet been announced who will play Ovett.
"You were either an Ovett person or a Coe person and that's what makes it such a great character piece as well," said the film's producer, Vicky Licorish.
Filming for the movie, which was first announced in February 2010, is expected to begin in April next year.
The screenplay will be based on an account of the rivalry in a book called "The Perfect Distance" by British athletics journalist Pat Butcher.
Radcliffe, 24, shot to fame by playing the title role in eight film adaptations of J.K. Rowling's blockbuster series of books about child wizard Harry Potter.
Peace talks won’t move forward until Taliban appoint new chief: Nisar
ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Monday told the National Assembly that neither the Taliban nor the army and the government were responsible for the US drone attack which killed TTP chief Hakimullah Mehsud.
Speaking at the floor of the house, the minister said that the situation would remain unchanged until the Taliban appoint new chief.
He said that political leadership of the country had mandated the government to engage the militants in talks in September this year. He, however, said that the government took seven-week time after the all parties conference to ponder the issue of negotiations with the Taliban before setting up a panel of Ulema to open talks with the militants.
Nisar said that as many as 37 splinter groups of Taliban were operating in Pakistan of which 14 to 17 were functional.
“We have tried to hold talks under an umbrella in the first phase,” he said and added the government changed the track of talks in the first two weeks after APC during which the process had moved forward to some extent.
“We inform the Taliban of sending our delegation consisting of Ulema. But, you can’t hold talks when a body is lying in your courtyard,” he said in reference to the killing of Hakimullah Mehsud, former chief of the most feared terror outfit.
The interior minister said that the Pakistan Army had extended full cooperation in peace negotiations.
Humaima Malick, Mishi Khan, Jana Malik, Juggan Kazim Controversial Photos
Some of Pakistani actresses have gone on those ways which is very disgracing and shameful for our country. Their controversial/notorious photos show that they do not care about Pakistan’s identity or ideology. Hundreds of people criticize actresses like Veena Malik and Mathira for their exposing dresses and shameful activities but there are few other Pakistani actresses and models who are also doing same type of shameful things.
Famous Pakistani celebrity Humaima Malick photo which became viral on social media has raised many eyebrows as she is wearing a very revealing dress. Mishi Khan, host, model and actress, who became popular after her role in Uroosa is also in the same line as her photo was also very shocking and one cannot understand that why such type of photo are posted on internet. Actress Jana Malik modeling photo shoot is also very disgraceful.
Juggan Kazim is one of the most controversial as in 2004 in her Canadian film Sweet Destiny “Pink Ludoos” she had a ki** scene which was criticized a lot at that time but now it looks that it will become common in Pakistani film industry also.
Juggan Kazim is one of the most controversial as in 2004 in her Canadian film Sweet Destiny “Pink Ludoos” she had a ki** scene which was criticized a lot at that time but now it looks that it will become common in Pakistani film industry also.
Model Rubya Chaudhry and Model Cyble are also seen in very exposing dresses and there are many other models who wear revealing outfits in fashions shows.
Many Pakistanis are of the view that PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) and PEMRA (Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority) should take notice of all these shameful acts and should block/ban exposing photos and vulgar scenes.
Here are those photos which became viral but we are sharing it after censoring it:
